Opponents are more likely to fold in a Texas Hold'em poker game, if they are :
(1) looking at poker chips;
(2) reaching toward chips;
(3) staring at poker cards; or
(4) conspicuously staring at you.
Before you act on your poker hand, examine the poker players who will act after you. The four points above are strong indications that opponents aren't interested in calling any bets.
This is particularly important on the first round of betting. I am able to convince even professional opponents that I am in the poker game to gamble, playing poker hands that are too weak for my position - without actually doing it!
How ? It's simple. I just look behind me and when I see one or more opponents providing these strong indicators that they are going to fold, I relax my poker hand requirements, substituting what I need if I were that many seats later in position. It means I can profit from poker hands I would not have been able to play. If I weren't observant and at the same time it does wonders for establishing my carefree image.
